‘Social label is bringing its message of inclusivity to Europe’
Social label from the Netherlands present their Werkwarenhuis in Brompton. Founders Petra Janssen (Studio Boot) and Simone Kramer (C-mone) demonstrate what meaningful design can do to create an inclusive society with enjoyable work for all.
Part of the exhibition is an open book on design and labour. The book offers an overview of all the insights gained from the debates, experiences and practices that form part of Social label. These are tackled from different perspectives and highlight a range of sheltered workshops and social businesses, exploring what design can do for society in terms of social inclusion. From lessons learned in the process, to a manifesto for a new economy based on human values: Social label – socio economics celebrates the power of design and communication, and is a striking attempt to make a change in the Dutch system of labour, participation, and social return.
Designers of Social Label’s products include: Piet Hein Eek (HOUT) , Roderick Vos (VAAS), Marc Mulders (MASK), Dick van Hoff (VEEG), Haiko Meijer (Onix), Edwin Vollebergh/Studio Boot (KOM), Borre Akkersdijk/By Borre (SCHORT), Kiki van Eijk/Kiki world (LICHT), Edward van Vliet (WARM).
